Who we are

Carthage United Methodist Church is a caring church. We truly believe that "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." Because of our commitment as a church to this command of Christ, we are a busy church. We make every attempt to be generous with our time, talents, and gifts. As individual members, and as a congregation, we are a searching church. Again, we are commanded "ask and it will be given to you; seek and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." We study, search the scriptures, and worship together in order to glorify God, be reconciled to Him through faith in Jesus Christ, and to receive and be led by the Holy Spirit. We are a church with potential. We believe that people living Christian lives will make a positive difference in this community and world. It is this type of Christian life that we are earnestly seeking. We believe that we are able to minister to a variety of people because of the make-up of our church family. We have both young and more mature members, but the significant point about our membership is that we want to have you among us. It is our intention that you find us friendly. Our faith is in God, our salvation is in Jesus Christ, our denomination is United Methodist and among our fondest wishes is to worship with you.

What to expect

Carthage United Methodist has one Sunday morning, traditional worship service. It meets at 11 AM in the sanctuary. The Sanctuary entrance is located on East Franklin. Upon entering, you will be greeted by an usher/greeter and offered a bulletin. Go through the foyer and enter the worship space. Before the service, people will be visiting and conversing. It's our hope that you will be warmly greeted. A few minutes before the top of the hour, you will hear three chimes immediately followed by a musical prelude from either the organist or pianist. Once the choir enters worship begins.
