MEET OUR STAFF

Rev. Tim Atwood became the pastor of Carthage  Methodist Church July 2023. 

Jane serves as the church's Financial Secretary and Administrative Assistant to the pastor. Jane coordinates the daily operations of the church office. She is married to Gene, and they have two children, Susan and Tim, and are proud grandparents of Anderson.

Marsha serves as our church's pianist and is currently serving as Director of Music in the interim. We are so blessed to witness  her incredible talent as a vital part of our music ministry and church family. 

Joshua serves as our church organist and Digital Media Coordinator. He is a 2015 graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in communication and a concentration in public relations. Joshua has been involved in music since he was a child. He also works for Pearl River Resort as its  Advertising Manager.
Joshua has been the organist here at CMC since July 2013. 

Sydney is a 2020 Mississippi State University graduate and is currently a 5th grade English and Social Studies teacher at Pelahatchie Elementary School. Sydney has been a member of Carthage Methodist Church since birth, and we are excited to see what God will do with our youth ministry through her leadership.
Sydney says, "I know how transformational a youth group can be. It's about community, accountability, and a growing hunger for a relationship with God. I'm so excited to help these kids feel loved & accepted."

Shelby comes to us from the big city of Lena, Mississippi, and is no stranger to the people of Carthage and Leake County. Many will remember her time as a standout on the hardwood at Leake Academy where she won a state championship each year of her career. She is married to Scott Johnson, and they have four children: Dalton (14), Kade (12), Emma (9), and Case (4). Shelby is a 2015 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Mississippi State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology. She also obtained her Master of Science in Psychology from the University of Louisiana Monroe. Shelby currently works as a Mental Health Therapist for the Rankin County School District where she works with children and teens in grades K-12. Shelby accepted God's call to become our Director of Children's Activities in February 2023. Her prayer is to see the ministry grow and thrive while showing the children in her care God's love for them. She says, "I want to show children how to be in the world without being of the world."

Wayne serves as our church treasurer.  As our church's treasurer, Wayne is responsible for distributing all funds received into the church treasury in a responsible and organized manner so that the ministry of the congregation can be effective.

Oliver  is our church’s faithful and wonderful custodian. He ensures that our historic buildings and beautiful campus continue to look their best to the glory of God.
